Our Pay-As-You-Go option allows students to pay for each Behind-the-Wheel lesson individually after completing the classroom portion of Driver Education. Before scheduling your first lesson, students must: • Complete the 30-hour classroom course • Hold a valid Maryland learner’s permit • Submit any required enrollment documents (transfer students) Lesson Progression Lesson 1 Students should have completed at least 10 hours of supervised practice driving before Lesson 1. This lesson focuses on pre-entry checks, pre-start, basic vehicle control, residential driving, turning, parking, and foundational driving skills. Lesson 2 Students should have at least 40 total practice hours and wait a minimum of two weeks after Lesson 1 before scheduling Lesson 2. This lesson focuses on more complex traffic situations, lane changes, parking maneuvers, rural roads, merging, roundabouts, and increasing driving independence. Lesson 3 Students should have completed at least 60 total practice hours and wait a minimum of two weeks after Lesson 2 before scheduling Lesson 3. This lesson includes expressway driving and the final driving evaluation. Transfer Students Welcome Students who completed the classroom portion of Driver Education at another Maryland-licensed driving school may enroll in Green Light Driving Academy for Behind-the-Wheel instruction. Documentation from the previous school and a copy of the student’s learner’s permit will be required before the first lesson can be confirmed. Please note: • Students must bring their learner’s permit to every lesson. • Enclosed shoes are required. • Lessons may be rescheduled or delayed if practice hours have not been met or skills immediately reflect a lack of read. • Students who need additional instruction beyond the required six hours may schedule additional Behind-the-Wheel lessons for continued practice and skill development.
